Labyrinth
We invite everyone to experience walking our labyrinth, situated on the church grounds in the back of the parking lot.
A labyrinth is an archetype with which we have a direct experience. It is a metaphor for life's journey. It provides a symbol that creates a sacred space, a place that takes us out of our ego to that which is within.
A labyrinth is not a maze. A maze is like a puzzle that needs solving with twist and turns and blind alleys. A maze needs logical sequential analysis to find the correct path in and out of the maze
The labyrinth has only one path, the way in is the way out. There are no blind alleys, the path leads you on a winding path to the center and out again. With the labyrinth, there is only one choice--the choice is to enter or not. The choice is whether or not to walk a spiritual path. At its most basic level, the labyrinth is a metaphor for the journey to the center of your deepest self and back out into the world with a broadened understanding of who you are.
Walk the Labyrinth
As you enter the labyrinth, pause and open your mind and heart to God, Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit, Holy Mother or simply to the Universe. Allow yourself to let go of ideas concerns or burdens. Breathe into your body and become alert to this experience.
1. Step into the labyrinth and follow its pathway, noticing the sounds you hear, the feelings within you, and the voices that speak within you. Simply notice your interior life as you walk one foot in front of the other.
2. When you reach the center, pause and silently claim this space for yourself. Notice your feelings and thoughts here. Give thanks for the journey, and if you feel led, remain within the center and sit in meditation or prayer.
3. Return following the pathway that brought you to the center. Notice the
feelings and thoughts as you wind your way out again. Allow yourself to integrate
the energy received in the journey to the center. As you return to the entrance
to the labyrinth, pause and feel your gratitude as you return to the world with
new insights about your self and your life
