Summer Concert Series 2017

This summer, join us at Unity of New Braunfels for a series of fun, positive performances by internationally renowned musicians.

Friday, June 2nd: Full Moon Eye

Show at 7 p.m.

Americana music duo Kelly Quinn and Chris Pfeiffer are Full Moon Eye. It is a rare thing when music comes from one breath, one body, one love.... one song. Chris and Kelly’s unique, velvety vocals caress in such a way that it’s often hard to distinguish one from the other. Kelly’s piano is driven from the raw stage form of Elton John to the sensitive, felt nuances of George Winston and Matt Rollings. Chris’ guitar glides on years of James Taylor and Neil Young. Born in Dallas and Austin, Texas, they have both recorded and toured professionally for years and have journeyed multiple musical roads that now has them on one main highway. Chris and Kelly’s favorite thing to do is disappear into the desert of west Texas and the high desert mountains of Colorado, writing the songs they record and perform live.

Friday, July 28th: Leeann Atherton

Show at 7 p.m.

Leeann Atherton's songwriting suitcase is full of a seamless blend of twang, soul, gospel and blues owing a lot to her background. Steeped in southern roots, stewed in Texas blues, raised by a hillbilly housewife and an Alabama gentleman in Charleston, South Carolina, away from the shopping mall culture, she put herself through college singing in a beach music dance band. Seasoned by long years of roadhouse gigs and lots of fun, Leeann is now based out of Austin, where she has held a residency for 19 years at Maria's Taco Xpress, building a strong band that continues to draw larger and larger crowds.

Sunday, August 27th: Hamp & Janet

Show at 6 p.m.

Janet Drew and Hamp Brockman’s original songs make the world a better place if only by making it a more comfortable place to be. Together, they celebrate love and life with a variety of acoustic american roots music including everything from jazz to Celtic ballads. Janet and Hamp are both formally trained, accomplished musicians, and between the two of them they have 40 years of combined performing experience. They display a heartwarming synergy that gladdens the heart and offer the delicious sound of two voices that blend like tea and honey. Hamp is an excellent side man, having appeared on Kerrville’s main stage with Tom Prasada Rao, and on recordings with Jim Keaveny, Mike Cooper, and Janet Drew. He is also a frequent “sit in” with San Antonio’s Circle Band (Celebration Circle). Janet is a seasoned folk singer, having played Texas folk venues for 20 years. She has opened for Steve Seskin, Christine Albert, and Michael McNevin and performed with the new thought band, The Light Travelers. Hamp and Janet have opened together for Shake Russell, and Brother Sun. Their favorite collaboration by far both in music and in life is each other.
